Day 1: Lima City Tour

09:00 – 09:30 Pick-up from our hotel or meeting point in Miraflores.
09:30 – 10:30 We visit the Historic Center of Lima, the Central Reserve Bank Museum, where you’ll see the “Treasures of Peru Collection,” a selected exhibition of gold objects, ceramics, and textiles from various pre-Columbian cultures.
10:30 – 12:30 Additionally, explore the monumental complex of San Francisco, representing the largest collection of colonial religious art in America. Highlighted is the visit to its underground crypts known as the “Catacombs.”
BCRP Museum is closed to the public on Mondays.

Start your City Tour in Cusco by arriving at our office at 1:00 p.m. From there, we will take a 10-minute walk to the Temple of Koricancha, where you will enjoy a guided visit of approximately one hour. Your guide will share the history and significance of this fascinating place.

Then, we will board our vehicle to Sacsayhuamán, an impressive Inca site famous for its astonishing stonework. During the visit, your guide will provide valuable information about this extraordinary place.

After Sacsayhuamán, we will continue to Qenqo, an ancient site where the Incas performed rituals and ceremonies. Next, we will explore Tambomachay, known for its beautiful water fountains, a place where the Inca king used to relax and meditate.

Finally, we will visit Pucapucara, a red Inca structure that served as a strategic checkpoint. After completing our exploration of Pucapucara, we will return to the center of Cusco around 6:00 p.m., thus concluding the City Tour of Cusco.

Itinerary of the Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour

Start Time: The tour begins at 7:00 a.m. at our office, located at Portal Nuevo 270, Plaza Regocijo, Cusco.

First Stop: Chinchero

After a journey of approximately 45 minutes, we will arrive in Chinchero. Here, our guide will show you the Inca archaeological site and the ancient colonial church. Additionally, we will visit a local family to witness how they make traditional textiles using natural dyes, a tradition passed down through generations.

Second Stop: Moray

We will continue to Moray, where we will explore its impressive circular terraces built by the Incas. This site served as an ancient agricultural experimental station showcasing the Incas’ advanced knowledge of cultivation in different microclimates. You will have time to take photographs and walk around while our guide shares the fascinating history of the place.

Third Stop: Salineras de Maras

Next, we will visit the salt mines of Maras, where you will learn about the ancient salt extraction process that is still practiced today. Here, you can see and purchase unique handicrafts made from salt. Take this opportunity to capture memorable photographs of this singular landscape.

Fourth Stop: Lunch in Urubamba

Around 12:30 p.m., we will enjoy a buffet lunch in the picturesque town of Urubamba. The lunch offers options for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diets (please inform us in advance if you have any dietary restrictions).

Fifth Stop: Ollantaytambo

After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, where we will tour its archaeological site around 3:00 p.m. This Inca site was an important fortress and one of the few places where the Incas successfully defeated the Spaniards in battle. If you wish to conclude your tour in Ollantaytambo, you may choose to stay, allowing you to explore the town further or continue your journey to Machu Picchu.

Sixth Stop: Pisac

Finally, we will visit Pisac, famous for its agricultural terraces and extensive archaeological zone. Here, our guide will take you to explore the site, and you will have time to take stunning photographs. Pisac is one of the best places to appreciate the Incas’ skills in agriculture and engineering.

Return Time:

We plan to return to Cusco around 6:30 p.m., after a day full of discoveries through the most iconic sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Important Trip Details:

  • Travel Time Between Destinations: Varies between 30 minutes and 1 hour by car. During these journeys, you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley.
  • Time at Each Site: You will have between 30 minutes and 1 hour to explore each site and understand its historical and cultural significance.
  • Tourist Ticket: If you do not have your tourist ticket yet, you can purchase it in Chinchero, our first stop on the tour. This ticket is necessary to access the archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley.

Detailed Itinerary: One-Day Trip to Machu Picchu from Cusco, via Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes

Early Morning: Your adventure begins with a pick-up between 4:00 and 4:15 AM directly from your hotel in Cusco. If you’re staying in the Sacred Valley, please let us know at +51 982 520 735 via WhatsApp to arrange the pick-up. Our exclusive transportation from Explore Peru 360 will be ready to collect you at your hotel or Airbnb’s reception. The journey will take you through the stunning Andean mountains to the train station in Ollantaytambo, approximately a 1 hour and 45-minute ride.

Train Journey to Aguas Calientes: Upon arriving at the Ollantaytambo station, our driver will assist you in boarding the train, which departs around 6:10 AM or 6:40 AM to the picturesque town of Aguas Calientes. During the 1.5-hour ride, you can enjoy views of the Urubamba River and the Andean landscapes.

Arrival in Aguas Calientes: Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, our guide will be waiting for you with a sign that says “Explore Peru 360” or your name. After a brief meeting, you’ll have 20 to 30 minutes of free time to grab a coffee, buy some snacks, or use the restrooms.

Bus Ride to Machu Picchu: Next, you’ll head to the line to take the bus that will take you to the main entrance of Machu Picchu in a 30-minute journey. You can expect to arrive between 9:00 and 10:00 AM.

Guided Tour of Machu Picchu: Once inside the citadel, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2.5 hours, visiting the main points of interest. Access will be through circuits 01 or 02, depending on availability; if those are not available, you will be assigned circuit 03 or 04. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred route.

Return to Aguas Calientes: After the visit, you’ll descend back by bus to Aguas Calientes, taking about 25 minutes. Once there, you’ll have time to explore the town and enjoy a meal.

Free Time in Aguas Calientes: Enjoy free time in Aguas Calientes after the visit, where you can stroll through the town or do some shopping before returning to the train station.

Return to Cusco: The return train will depart around 2:30 PM or 3:20 PM, taking you back to the Ollantaytambo station in about 1.5 hours. Our private transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, with an estimated arrival time between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM.

At the time indicated by our agency you will board our transportation from Cusco to Puno

  • 6:40 AM: Hotel pick-up and transfer to the Puno port, where we board a motorboat and set off towards the floating islands of the Uros.

  • Uros Islands Visit (45 minutes): Explore these ancient floating islands, home to the Uros community, with an English and Spanish-speaking guide who will share the unique lifestyle of the inhabitants.

    • The Uros are an indigenous community made up of more than 40 islands, all built by the inhabitants using totora reeds. These reeds are used for constructing their homes, boats (rafts), as fuel, and even as food.
    • On this tour, you’ll visit the main island and explore 2 or 3 additional islands (around 30 minutes each). There’s also an option to take a ride on the traditional totora reed boats.
  • Travel to Taquile Island: After visiting the Uros Islands, continue the journey to Taquile Island. Upon arrival, there is a 1-hour hike to the village.

    • Taquile Visit (3 hours): Enjoy the stunning landscape and learn about the islanders’ customs. We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor a typical trout-based dish.
    • Free time will be given to explore the island and meet the locals, who will showcase their way of life through their intricate textiles.
  • Return to Puno:

    • 2:30 PM: Departure from Taquile. Arrival in Puno at approximately 5:00 PM (standard boat) or 3:50 PM (speedboat).
    • Transfer from the port to your hotel.

Departure Time: The journey starts early at 2:45 AM with pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa.

– Route: The trip heads north, skirting the Chachani Volcano, and continues towards Chivay. The estimated travel time to Chivay is around 3.5 hours.

– Breakfast in Chivay: Upon arrival in Chivay, you’ll enjoy breakfast in this charming town.

– Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint: After breakfast, the journey continues for about 2 hours to reach the “Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint,” located at 3,500 meters above sea level. Here, you’ll witness the majestic flight of condors and take in the panoramic views of the Colca Canyon, which is 1,200 meters deep.

– Time at the Viewpoint: You’ll spend around 2 hours at the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint, enjoying the scenery and watching these magnificent birds.

– Return to Chivay: On the way back to Chivay, you’ll stop at several interesting spots, such as Pinchollo, to see pre-Inca Hanging Tombs and the Petromaqueta of the Colca Valley. Additional stops include the Antahuilque Viewpoint, the villages of MacaAchoma, and Yanque, where you can admire Yanque’s impressive baroque-style temple.

– Hot Springs: Back in Chivay, you’ll have the option to visit the La Calera Hot Springs for some relaxation.

– Lunch: You’ll enjoy lunch in Chivay.

– Return to Arequipa: In the afternoon, you’ll begin the return trip to Arequipa, with stops at Patapampa (Mirador of the Andes), Alto Sumbay, and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you can see various species of South American camelids, especially vicuñas.

– Arrival Time: The return to Arequipa is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

Make sure to prepare for the altitude and potential weather changes. Bring appropriate clothing, sunscreen, water, and other essentials to ensure a comfortable and safe experience.

After breakfast, we will begin the tour to the White City of Arequipa, where we will visit the Santa Catalina Monastery, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places, established in 1970 and featuring a wealth of colonial art pieces. We will also explore the Jesuit Cloisters and the neighborhoods of Cayma and Yanahuara, which offer a magnificent view of Misti Volcano.

In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore Arequipa at your own pace.

At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Lima.

Agency Cancellations:

If Explore Peru 360 cancels the tour due to weather or political reasons, we will refund 100% of the tour cost to the customer.

Changes to the Reservation:

You can modify the date of your tour or change to another similar tour (Palcoyo, Laguna Humantay, Sacred Valley, 7 Lagoons) at no cost until 7 PM the day before the tour starts.
