Waqrapukara Tour is a new tourist attraction recently promoted in Cusco, located in the province of Acomayo near the Apurímac River, at an altitude of 4,300 meters above sea level (13,123 feet), south of the city of Cusco. Waqrapukara has not yet been fully deciphered and can be considered a fortress, a sanctuary, or an astronomical observatory. Initially built by the Quincha people and later conquered by the Incas, this site offers a unique and unusual destination where visitors can enjoy spectacular landscapes, various lagoons, and the cliffs of the Apurímac canyon. It’s an opportunity to connect with nature and feel the energy of this amazing place.

- ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco – Acomayo – Waqrapukara – Cusco
Early in the morning, around 3:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to begin the journey to the starting point of our hike, which will take approximately 2.5 hours to reach the province of Acomayo.
Upon arrival, we will enjoy the scenic circuit of the four Acomayo lagoons.
Afterward, we will continue for another 30 minutes until we reach Qenterococha Lagoon (4,330 m / 14,138 ft), where a delicious breakfast awaits us.
Following breakfast, we will begin our hike towards the Waqrapukara complex, where you’ll have the chance to admire the local flora and fauna along the way.
Upon reaching the first viewpoint of Waqrapukara, we will take a short break before continuing to our final destination.
Once at this incredible site, you’ll have time to rest and explore the archaeological center with our guide, who will provide detailed insights into the site’s history. There will also be free time to take photos and explore at your own pace.
We will then start our return on a different, easier path, offering new views of the Apurímac Canyon.
We expect to arrive back at the trailhead around 1:40 p.m., where our private transport will be waiting for us, and we will enjoy a delicious lunch.
We will arrive back in Cusco around 7:00 p.m..
It is important that participants in this excursion to Waqrapukara are in good physical condition and properly acclimatized to the altitude.

Terms and Conditions of Booking
Agency Cancellations:
If Explore Peru 360 cancels the tour due to weather or political reasons, we will refund 100% of the tour cost to the customer.
Changes to the Reservation:
You can modify the date of your tour or change to another similar tour (Palcoyo, Laguna Humantay, Sacred Valley, 7 Lagoons) at no cost until 7 PM the day before the tour starts.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:
- Full Refund: Cancellations up to 24 hours before the tour.
- Partial Refund: Cancellations between 24 hours and 7 PM the day before will receive 50%.
- No Refund: Cancellations after 7 PM the day before are not eligible for a refund.
