Ballestas Islands
Arrival at the tourist pier where we will begin our excursion to the Ballestas Islands, the largest maritime reserve in Peru and the second largest in South America. We will take a boat ride, and each participant will have life vests and appropriate distancing from others. Along the way, you will see “El Candelabro,” a large geoglyph similar to the Nazca Lines. These islands are natural rock formations that are home to diverse marine wildlife, including large colonies of guano birds (Guanay, Booby, Pelican, Cormorant, Terns, etc.). You will also spot sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and dolphins.
Lunch
We arrive in Ica for lunch and free time. You can enjoy local dishes, including “La Ruta del Pisco,” Arroz con Pato, Sopa Seca, and other specialties.
Nietto Winery Visit and Pisco Tasting
We will tour the winery to learn how fine wine is made, followed by a free tasting of wines, creams, macerated liquors, and piscos. You can also purchase any you like.
Visit to Huacachina Oasis and Sand Dunes
This oasis is said to have formed from the tears of a beautiful green-eyed woman and is surrounded by dunes and palm trees. The lagoon is rich with legends. You will have free time to explore, taste local sweets like chocotejas and tejas, and shop for handicrafts.
Chincha / Garrafón Winery
Chincha will be our last stop, where you can taste some wines, cachina, and purchase mamajuanas. You can also try typical Chincha desserts like tejas, chocotejas, water biscuits, and tamales.
Return to Lima.
